Principal policy officer, queensland health

Are you looking for a new adventure? Come join Population Health Division where you will work as part of a team to contribute to the delivery of a complex program of work progressing smoking reduction policy, strategy and impact. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders to consider and resolve complex policy matters, identify solutions including legislative amendments, and develop and implement strategic responses.

Your key responsibilities:

* Coordinate high level advice, intelligence briefings, presentations and meetings to advise and influence senior stakeholders about administration of legislative requirements for smoking reduction.
* Provide advanced expertise in the application of evidence, theory, and judgement in planning, implementing, and evaluating smoking reduction policy and interventions in a range of settings and for priority population groups.
* Provide high-level authoritative advice to senior management, partners, and other stakeholders, including members of the public, to influence strategic policy and delivery of complex and/or innovative smoking reduction interventions.

* Proven ability to apply high-level of knowledge, expertise and skills to the development of effective regulatory solutions to complex state-wide health policy challenges.
* Demonstrated ability to apply high-level and effective communication, consultation, negotiation and problem-solving skills in response to diverse internal and external stakeholder expectations in a dynamic and contested environment.
* Highly motivated with a demonstrated flexibility in approach to work and the working environment and willingness to participate in initiatives to address priority issues as required by management.
