About the opportunity
The Premium Policy Officer provides policy and technical advice on complex premium related matters, and provides support for the annual making of the WorkCover Premiums Order, in order to ensure that Victorian employers are paying the appropriate amount of premium.
This role will also work collaboratively across the Return to Work Victoria Business Unit and WorkSafe more broadly to assist and support the development of programs and projects in a challenging environment.
This role is located within the Premium and Self-Insurance Division, which is responsible for the setting of Workers Compensation insurance premiums. This role requires flexibility, agility and responsiveness to support the achievement of business goals.
Key accountabilities
* Provide technical advice on premium related issues to internal queries, WorkSafe's Agents and employer representatives both via telephone and the premium inbox
* Draft responses to Ministerial communications and complaints on premium issues
* Conduct research, request and analyse data and develop policy papers containing options and recommendations on premium relating issues including the premium calculation
* Support the project to gazette the annual WorkCover Premiums Order by assisting in conducting any required research on premium issues and providing assistance in reviewing drafts, proofreading and preparing briefing packs for the approval process
* Assist in ensuring that premium information on WorkSafe's website is accurate and up to date

* Significant experience in a similar role
* Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply applicable WorkCover legislation including the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation & Compensation Act 2013, Accident Compensation Act 1985 and associated Premiums Orders
* Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough research and think laterally and analytically
* Demonstrated ability to consult, liaise and educate stakeholders
