APS5 Finance Officer 6 month non-ongoing with the potential to be made permanent within the Branch

This large Federal Government department is looking to engage with a APS5 Finance officer
**Your new role**
The main responsibilities of this position include managing the finances for a range of highly complex major contracts. You will also be required to support the group finance partner with budgeting, forecasting, payment reconciliation, end of month reporting and manage relationships with a broad range of stakeholders both internal and external.
- Verification, approval and goods receipting of invoices associated with service delivery to support contractual arrangements
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholder to facilitate approval and payment of invoices
- Supporting financial reporting and analysis activities, including the preparation of monthly accruals and journals
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures
- Contribute to changes in workplace practices and to business improvement strategies and
- Support the co-ordination of activities relating to expenditure such as assets stocktake and ad-hoc corporate requests.
**What you'll need to succeed**
- Australian citizenship and baseline security clearance
- An understanding of the Commonwealth Budget process and Cabinet processes
- Knowledge of the Commonwealth financial framework
- Strong communication, numeric and policy skills
- Ability to analyse data to achieve strategic outcomes
- Qualifications in accounting / economics are preferred
