About The Role
We're seeking an experienced Test Analyst to support a major data transformation program within a highly regulated environment. This role sits within a critical initiative focused on modernising data platforms and ensuring the seamless continuity of reporting during a system transition.
You'll play a key role in validating data loads and transformations between strategic data collection platforms and legacy data warehouses, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability across the data ecosystem.
This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who is technically strong, highly detail‐oriented, and comfortable working closely with engineers and data specialists.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for data platform components, including ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines
* Validate data migrations and transformations from legacy on-premise systems (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle) to target data warehouses
* Perform data reconciliation between source and target systems to ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy
* Execute data testing using SQL and/or Python to extract, compare, and validate large datasets
* Investigate, document, and track defects using tools such as JIRA
* Liaise with data engineers, architects, and delivery teams to support defect resolution and root cause analysis
* Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by preparing data scenarios, guiding users, and capturing feedback
* Ensure adherence to testing standards and contribute to the evolution of best‐practice testing approaches
Nature of the Work
* Embedded within a large‐scale data transformation program
* Hands‐on, technically focused testing across data pipelines and platforms
* Strong collaboration with data engineers, architects, and senior technical specialists
* Mix of:
o Data validation and reconciliation
o Defect investigation and reporting
o Stakeholder collaboration across technology and data teams
What You'll Bring
* 3+ years' experience in a QA or data testing role, ideally within data migration or data platform projects
* Strong SQL skills for data validation, reconciliation, and transformation testing
* Solid understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks and data pipelines
* Excellent attention to detail with strong problem‐solving capability
* Clear written and verbal communication skills to engage cross‐functionally
Desirable Experience
* Python or PySpark experience for automated data testing
* Exposure to agile delivery, DevOps, or DataOps environments
* Experience within financial services, regulatory reporting, or APRA collections
