About the role
We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Managerto lead and oversee the daily operations of our Darwin branch.
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate testing, compliance with relevant Australian Standards, staff leadership, and continuous improvement in quality and safety.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with proven people and operational management skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day operations of the laboratory
* Supervise, mentor, and develop laboratory technicians
* Ensure testing is conducted in accordance with Australian Standards, NATA requirements, and company procedures
* Oversee scheduling, workflow planning, and resource allocation
* Maintain laboratory accreditation, quality systems, and documentation
* Ensure compliance with OH&S policies and promote a strong safety culture
* Liaise with engineers, project managers, and clients regarding testing requirements and results
* Monitor equipment calibration, maintenance, and procurement
* Review test results and reports for accuracy and completeness
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory operations
What we're looking for
* Proven experience in a geotechnical or construction materials testing laboratory
* Strong knowledge of soil, aggregate, and concrete testing methods
* NATA accreditation experience
* Experience managing audits and laboratory compliance
* Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
* Sound understanding of Australian Standards and quality systems
* Excellent organisational and communication skills
* Commitment to safety, quality, and professional integrity
