Expression of Interest – Procurement Manager

* Full time role with flexible work options that support your lifestyle and wellbeing.
* Be part of a purpose‐driven company making a national impact.

We are seeking expressions of interest for a Procurement Manager with deep Defence sector experience to lead operational procurement delivery while shaping and maturing team capability. This role will suit a commercially sharp procurement leader who can move confidently between hands‐on execution and strategic stakeholder engagement.

About the Role

Reporting to the Procurement & Supply Chain Portfolio Manager, you will take ownership of procurement and work with the subcontracting team supporting major Defence and Marine programmes. You will uplift standards, mentor team members, streamline processes, and drive consistency in how we engage, negotiate, and manage suppliers. This is a highly visible role where your influence will directly improve commercial outcomes, risk management, governance, and supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead source‐to‐contract activities across complex Defence programmes, including market engagement, tendering, evaluation, and negotiation.
* Manage complex supplier agreements, flow‐downs, variations, and performance obligations aligned to ASDEFCON and Commonwealth requirements.
* Provide commercial advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with procurement frameworks and contract governance.
* Build capability across the team – coaching, mentoring, and embedding best‐practice processes.
* Maintain strong working relationships with Program Directors, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, and Senior Leadership.
* Support strategic supplier relationship management and performance improvement.
* Identify and mitigate commercial and delivery risks early, ensuring controls are practical and effective.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the uplift of organisational procurement maturity.

About You

You will bring a practical mix of operational delivery strength, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence and guide others.

* Proven experience in procurement and subcontract management within the Defence environment.
* Strong understanding and working experience with Commonwealth procurement rules, ASDEFCON conditions, risk allocation, and contractual flow‐down requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to negotiate commercially favourable outcomes while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
* Experience coaching or mentoring others, contributing to capability uplift.
* Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and contributing to strategic discussions.
* Analytical, structured, and proactive in problem solving.
* Degree in Business, Law, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field (preferred).
