About the business Nilsen is a national, family owned business founded in 1916. Providing continuous service in the electrical industry, Nilsen maintains the traditions on which the company was built - Service, Reliability and Quality. Well regarded for its Electrical Construction and Maintenance capability, Nilsen is also a manufacturer of high quality Electrical Switchboards. The Switchboard Manufacturing facility is located in Ferryden Park, South Australia and services both internal and external customers Australia wide. As a result of growth in the Switchboard Manufacturing operations, Nilsen seek applicants for sheet metal welders and trades assistants to join the team. The Switchboard facility has been recently upgraded, and with the addition of new manufacturing plant and equipment and a healthy backlog of work, the business is primed for more success. About the role Sheetmetal welders will work under direction of the Supervisor and work independently or as part of a team in welding sheetmetal components to construct electrical cubicles. Mild steel in zinc alum or galv finish is commonly used in the manufacturing process, however, both aluminium and stainless steel cubicles are also often constructed. The Sheetmetal welder will need to be able to read GA drawings and work within defined tolerances to create the various cubicles. Other tasks such as assisting in the production of steel components with folding and fabrication of sheetmetal along with the assembly of the switchboard product may also be required occasionally. Sheetmetal Trades Assistants work under the direction of the Supervisor and will undertake tasks such as operating various production equipment, assist in the folding/welding/drilling etc of switchboard sheetmetal components, assist with assembly of the mechanical components require to construct a switchboard and other tasks as required. Applicants may have gained experience in other manufacturing environments, or in the construction sector, however, prior experience, whilst preferred, is not essential. Pay rates are in accordance with our industry leading Enterprise Agreement. Skills and experience Welder Trade Certificate Engineering Tradesperson (Fabrication) or (Welder) Experience in MIG and TIG welding; Experience in welding mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium; Able to follow instruction and read/understand general assembly and isometric drawings; Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously as required; Takes pride in their work; Understands the importance of quality and the avoidance of rework; Must be polite, courteous and respectful of others, be punctual in attendance, and comply with all Nilsen Policies; Must have a good attitude to safety and comply with all workshop safety requirements. Trades Assistants Ability to use various hand tools; Capable of learning to use specialist machines such as bending machine, guillotine and the like; Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously as required; Trade qualified workers encouraged to apply; Must be polite, courteous and respectful of others, be punctual in attendance, and comply with all Nilsen Policies; Must have a good attitude to safety and comply with all workshop safety requirements.
