Indie Education is looking for a full time ICT Officer - Infrastructure to join our team, based at one of the following Indie Education sites. Greensborough, Geelong, Wodonga (Victoria) or Cowandilla (South Australia).
This role is responsible for providing user and technical support and advice to the company through various systems, process and platforms.
Introduction:
Indie Education is an educational hub and home to a family of training and educational programs, providing learning services for all age groups, driven by a team that is dedicated and passionate about lifelong learning. Our programs cater for the needs and interests of young people, senior secondary school students in Years 9 to 12, the general community, third age learners, and adults with a disability in supported employment, training and lifestyle activities.
Job Description:
Due to company expansion, an exciting opportunity has been created for a Full Time ICT Officer - Infrastructure to join our team, based at either Greensborough, Geelong, Wodonga (Victoria) or Cowandilla (South Australia).
As the ICT Officer - Infrastructure, you will support and improve Indie Education's ICT infrastructure, including networking, servers, cloud services, identity and access, endpoint management, backup and recovery, and core security controls. You will work closely with the broader ICT team, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure stable operations and timely resolution of infrastructure issues.
You will contribute to planned works, projects, documentation, and governance, while ensuring systems remain compliant with security best practice and company requirements.
The role will provide support to staff and students across all sites and programs that encompass the Indie Education inclusive of Indie School, Indie College, Aware Programs and Corporate Services.
This role will commence on or after 2 February 2026.

Preferred skills and experience:
Essential
* Demonstrated experience in ICT infrastructure support (networking, systems, cloud services or a blend).
* Strong troubleshooting capability and a methodical approach to incident and problem resolution.
* Experience administering or supporting Microsoft 365 and identity/access controls.
* Good knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS/DHCP, Wi-Fi).
* Practical understanding of patching, backups, monitoring and documentation.
* Strong communication skills with a customer-service mindset and the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
* Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and manage competing tasks.
Desirable
* Experience with Intune / endpoint management and policy-based administration.
* Exposure to firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access concepts.
* Experience with Ubiquiti equipment.
* Experience in education, government, or similarly regulated environments.
* Familiarity with ITIL practices and service management tooling.
This role will include:
Infrastructure Operations & Support
* Monitor and maintain core ICT infrastructure to ensure availability, performance and reliability.
* Provide escalation support for complex incidents and problems (Level 2/3).
* Maintain infrastructure health checks, patching schedules and appropriate auditing.
Networking & Connectivity
* Support LAN/WAN, switching, routing, wireless networks, and internet connectivity across sites.
* Assist with firewall rule requests, VPNs, VLANs, QoS and network segmentation (as applicable).
* Support internet filtering and safe access controls consistent with an education environment.
Servers, Storage, Backup & Recovery
* Support on-prem servers/virtualisation (where applicable) and related services (e.g., AD DS, DNS, DHCP, file services).
* Administer and validate backup and recovery processes, including restore testing.
* Contribute to disaster recovery documentation, resilience uplift and business continuity planning.
Security & Compliance
* Implement and maintain baseline security controls aligned to company policies and accepted frameworks (e.g., Essential Eight concepts).
* Support vulnerability remediation, patching, secure configuration and monitoring.
* Assist with audits, asset registers, and infrastructure documentation.
Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement
* Assist in delivering infrastructure improvements and technology refresh activities.
* Produce clear documentation, diagrams and handover notes.
* Engage vendors for support cases, renewals and technical changes, ensuring value for money and proper governance.
