The Gig: Full-Time Teaching contract within the college Head of Performance Leadership (Level 1 Coordinator), starting 2027. Are you ready to take centre stage? Imagine this: You start your morning with a beach walk along the stunning Coffs Coast, grab a latte, and then head to a school where the hallways hum with music, the dance studios are leaping with energy, and the drama rooms are bursting with creativity Welcome to Bishop Druitt College (BDC)! We are looking for our next Head of Performance (Years 5-12) —a dynamic, visionary, and collaborative maestro who can turn student passion into standing ovations. This isn't just a teaching job; it's your chance to shape the artistic heartbeat of the foremost K-12 College on the North Coast of New South Wales. If you have a flair for creative collaboration, a love for youth performance, and the leadership experiences to bring big ideas to life, we want you to join our ensemble! This is a co-leadership opportunity with sparkle. Working in collaboration with the Head of Faculty (Performing Arts) who focuses on the curriculum, this role allows you to do what you do really well everyday, all the creative stuff. Your Director's Notes (What You'll Be Doing): In this role, you'll split your time between being an inspiring classroom teacher and leading our thriving co-curricular performance programs. Your playlist of responsibilities includes: The Artistic Visionary: Develop and drive an exciting co-curricular vision for Drama, Dance, and Music across Years 5-12, ensuring there are entry points for beginners and elite pathways for our rising stars. The Master of Ceremonies: Lead, coordinate, and produce our major signature events, from the glitzy annual Performing Arts Awards Dinner and local Eisteddfods to weekly assembly showcases. The Musical Maverick: Collaboratively lead the biennial school musical and Broadway-style productions alongside our Head of Curriculum and Faculty teams. The Ultimate Collaborator: Partner with our Primary Performing Arts Teacher to make sure our Year 5-6 students transition seamlessly into the secondary spotlight. You'll also work closely with our peripatetics staff to champion our brilliant instrumental and vocal tutors. The Community Builder: Rally our parent and community fan club—the Friends of Performing Arts—to coordinate fun fundraising initiatives, community performances, and local networking. Our Ideal Lead (Who You Are): Accredited & Ready: You are a qualified secondary teacher with passion across two areas of the Performing Arts and/or VET Entertainment, you are eligible for NESA accreditation, holding a current CPR/First Aid certificate (and, of course, a NSW Working with Children Check). Creative Catalyst: You have experience leading performance elements and the energy for a K-12 school environment and love working with talented, diverse young performers. Master of the "We": You believe that performing arts is a team sport. You are a high-order communicator who can collaborate effortlessly with teachers, technical crew, finance staff, parents, and students. Tech-Savvy Producer: You are comfortable using modern educational technology and administrative tools (TASS, Google Suite, Schoolbox) and the potential to develop VET Entertainment to keep the show running smoothly behind the scenes. Supporter of our Ethos: You are ready to embrace the Bishop Druitt Way—a philosophy of inclusiveness ("come as you are"), deep learning, character development, and service within our Anglican tradition. The Perks of the Gig: The Stage: Modern, agile performance spaces and a supportive, creative faculty. The Support: A dedicated Level 1 Coordinator and 8 periods of release per cycle to give you the time to dream big, plan events, and mentor students. The Location: Coffs Harbour offers the ultimate work-life balance—gorgeous beaches, sub-tropical climate, and a vibrant local arts community. The Culture: A school that genuinely values the arts as a visible, celebrated, and admired pillar of student life. Ready to Audition? If you're ready to inspire the next generation of performers and lead a department that dares to be brilliant, we want to hear from you! To Apply: Submit your cover letter (tell us your favorite production and why!), your CV, and credentials via our College Careers portal. Come as you are, and help us make something extraordinary. Bishop Druitt College is a Child Safe environment. Pre-employment screening, including a Working with Children Check, is required for this position.
