Where You’ll Be Working

Hunter Valley Lower Mid North Coast Mental Health Service (HVLMNC MHS) is part of the Hunter New England Local Health District Mental Health Network. We provide high-quality care to people experiencing severe and complex mental health challenges, including mood disorders, psychosis, eating disorders, personality disorders, and the impacts of significant life events.

Our Integrated Model Spans

Community-based mental health servicesA 24-bed acute psychiatric unit at Maitland HospitalA 20-bed acute psychiatric unit at Manning Base Hospital

We support communities across Maitland, Dungog, Cessnock, Singleton, Muswellbrook, Upper Hunter, Taree, Forster, Gloucester, Bulahdelah and surrounding Lower Mid North Coast areas - delivering a seamless continuum of care from hospital to home.

You’ll join a skilled multidisciplinary team including Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, an Aboriginal Counsellor, a Peer Worker, a Dietitian and dedicated administration staff - all working collaboratively to support recovery.

About The Role

This is a dynamic community-based Psychologist position where no two weeks look the same.

You Will

Deliver evidence-based psychological assessment and interventionWork directly with consumers in their homes and community settingsContribute to multidisciplinary care planning and case reviewSupport recovery-oriented practice and meaningful re-engagement in life rolesParticipate in quality improvement and service development initiatives

This is not a desk-bound role. You’ll build long-term therapeutic relationships, adapt interventions to real-world functioning, and exercise independent clinical judgement in complex situations.

Essential Requirements

Current registration as a Psychologist with AHPRACompletion of an APAC-accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification (minimum two years full-time or recognised equivalent), as recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia
