National Head of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Title: National Head of Information & Communication Technology (ICT)

Employment: Full time / Ongoing

Location: Melbourne or Hobart (with national travel)


About the role

This is a newly created, strategically shaped leadership role with a unique opportunity to design and deliver on Able Australia's technology strategy, Innovate for the Future.

Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer, the National Head of ICT will provide strategic, and hands‑on leadership across our diverse not-for‑profit organisation, ensuring our systems, data, and digital platforms empower our workforce, strengthen service delivery, and enhance the client and employee experience across multiple states.

This role will suit a seasoned ICT leader who enjoys the intersection of technology strategy, digital transformation, and organisational change, and someone who is passionate about using technology to improve outcomes for people across the disability sector.


Key Responsibilities

* Strategic Leadership: Drive our organisation's technology roadmap and deliver a national ICT strategy aligned to Able Australia's purpose, financial capacity, and future service model, providing strategic advice to the Executive team and Board on digital opportunities and risks.
* Digital Transformation & Innovation: Lead our digital transformation, automation and systems integration initiatives to automate processes, improve efficiency, and enhance client and employee experience.
* Data Management & Governance: Embed data and information management frameworks to improve data quality, reporting, compliance, and strategic insight.
* Infrastructure, Cybersecurity & Compliance: Oversee secure, resilient ICT infrastructure and cybersecurity practices across all sites, ensuring compliance with NDIS, Privacy and ACNC requirements.
* People & Collaboration: Lead a high‑performing ICT team, manage national vendor partnerships, and work closely with leaders across the organisation to drive adoption, performance, and continuous improvement.


Skills and Experience Required

* 10+ years' experience in ICT leadership, with at least 5 in a strategic or enterprise‑wide role.
* Demonstrated experience leading digital transformation or automation programs.
* Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity frameworks, and enterprise systems.
* Exceptional communication and influencing skills including ability to engage both technical and non‑technical audiences.
* Demonstrated leadership in building high‑performing teams and vendor partnerships.
* Strong commercial and analytical mindset, with focus on efficiency, scalability, and risk management.
* Experience in not-for-profit, disability, or community services (highly regarded).
* Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
