Merak GF Café – Redland Bay, QLD
Merak GF is a busy, much-loved, 100% gluten-free café in Redland Bay. We are busy during the week and packed most weekends with locals, coeliacs, health-conscious foodies and their friends who come for great coffee, beautiful food and a warm, community vibe.
We're looking for an experienced barista all-rounder to join our front-of-house team.
Final classification will depend on experience and capability:
* Level 3 – Senior Barista All-Rounder, or
* Level 2 – Barista All-Rounder
The role
You will be a key part of the floor, including:
* Making consistently excellent espresso and milk coffee during busy service
* Dialling in, managing coffee quality and keeping the bar running smoothly
* Taking orders on POS, running food & drinks and jumping wherever needed
* Prep and beautifully plate cabinet items (cakes, slices, rolls and light meals), keeping the displays full, fresh and on-brand throughout service.
* Looking after guests with friendly, genuine service (especially our coeliac and GF customers)
* Helping keep the café clean, stocked and ready for the next rush
* Supporting the Team Leader with smooth, calm service – not chaos
About you
You:
* Have solid café barista experience (busy environment, not just push-button)
* Are confident on a commercial machine: dial-in, shot timing, milk texturing
* Latte art is a fantastic bonu but the deal breaker is your ability to texture milk beautifully and pour a great great coffee.
* Can work as a true all-rounder – happy on POS, running, clearing and helping your team
* Stay calm and organised when it's pumping, and bring a positive, upbeat energy to the floor
* Communicate clearly and respectfully with customers and team mates
* Care about good food and are happy to learn our gluten-free systems and standards
* Are reliable, punctual and take pride in doing things properly
Bonus (highly regarded):
* Experience in gluten-free venues or strong food-safety awareness
* Experience with Square POS and Deputy or similar systems
Pay & conditions
* Classified under the Restaurant Industry Award
* Level 3 or Level 2 Food & Beverage Attendant, depending on experience
* Award base rates + penalties + super
* Stable, regular shifts (approx. 25 to 38 hrs per week)
* Mostly day shifts, with one Friday afternoon evening with early finish at 8:30pm approx
