The Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design and documentation of residential solar systems, providing crucial support to our installation team. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between sales, installers, and operations, setting a high standard for our delivery team.
Responsibilities
* Produce complete solar design packages including panel layouts, SLDs, BOQs, and performance modeling.
* Generate comprehensive Work Orders for installers including BOM, design guidelines and compliance with AS/NZS 3000, 5033, and 4777 standards.
* Conduct system sizing, shading analysis, and ROI calculations based on customer consumption data.
* Prepare documentation for grid approvals (Ausgrid, Endeavour and Essential Energy)
* Ensure accurate and complete supporting documentation for order processing.
* Thoroughly prepare project documentation in coordination with all stakeholders.
* Demonstrate independent problem-solving skills in client interactions.
* Deliver high-level customer service and promptly address queries.
* Provide technical advice to our representatives, coordinators, installers, and customer service team.
* Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate sourcing of materials.
* Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies to incorporate into system designs.
* Evaluate and optimise existing solar installations for improved performance and efficiency.Assist in the development of proposals and technical presentations for client meetings.
Requirements
* 1+ year of experience in a similar role within the Solar Industry (residential preferred)
* SAA design accreditation for grid connected.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Suite/Office 365, AutoCAD (essential) and PVSyst.
* In-depth knowledge of electrical and structural engineering principles as applied to solar energy systems.
* Familiarity with local permitting processes and building codes related to solar installations.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
* Exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in a diverse team environment.
* Dedication to achieving company and team objectives.
* Ability to function effectively in a multi-disciplined, multi-skilled work environment as a collaborative team player.
* Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
* Driven to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients.
* Previous design and operations support experience is desirable.
