Junior Flooding Engineer
This position is responsible for conducting flood risk assessments and modeling in a hybrid Sydney role within a leading global maritime consultancy.
Your Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct flood risk assessments, including hydrological and hydraulic modeling, floodplain mapping, and flood impact analysis.
* Perform detailed investigations of flood events and assess flood mitigation measures.
* Provide recommendations for flood risk reduction strategies.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop flood management plans and policies ensuring regulatory compliance.
* Utilize advanced software and tools for flood modeling, data analysis, and visualization.
* Participate in consultation with flood-affected communities across Australia.
* Stay updated with industry trends and apply innovative flood engineering approaches.
* Support project manager and project delivery responsibilities.
About You:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
* 0-5 years professional experience in flood engineering, flood modeling, or floodplain management.
* Experience with hydrological and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., TUFLOW) and GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
* Knowledge of flood risk assessment methodologies, floodplain zoning, flood management strategies, and relevant legislation.
* Experience conducting flood investigations and interpreting flood modeling results.
* Interest in water resources including hydrogeology and water efficiency.
* Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
* Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
* Good organisational skills to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
