About the opportunity
Working from the Subiaco office, Altrad is seeking a commercially minded HR Advisor to support our operational and project-based workforce.
This role partners closely with Project Managers and site leadership, providing practical, timely HR and Employee Relations support across the employee lifecycle. You will play a key role in managing workforce matters, supporting leaders, and ensuring compliance with legislative and industrial requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Site / Project HR Focal Point
* Act as the primary HR contact for allocated sites and projects
* Partner with Project Managers and Site Leaders to manage workforce risk, engagement, and compliance
* Provide practical, commercially sound HR advice aligned to business objectives
Employee & Industrial Relations
* Manage investigations, disciplinary processes, performance management, and grievances
* Prepare responses for unfair dismissal and general protections matters
* Support Enterprise Agreement negotiations under IR Manager guidance
* Interpret and apply Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
* Build and cost wage rate schedules for EAs and tenders
Training & Capability
* Deliver HR / ER training to frontline leaders
* Coach leaders to confidently manage people matters
* Contracts & Compliance
* Draft employment contracts, variations, and site-specific addendums
* Maintain compliant templates and documentation
* Ensure practices align with legislative and industrial requirements
People & Pay Support
* Respond to employee and manager queries relating to pay and conditions
* Liaise with Payroll to resolve pay matters
* Support audits and compliance reviews
Operational Excellence
* Take ownership of allocated portfolios
* Drive matters through to resolution
* Identify opportunities for process improvement
* Provide timely reporting and risk escalation
About you
You are a hands‐on HR Advisor working closely with site and project leaders, delivering responsive HR and ER support in a dynamic environment.
* 3+ years' experience in an Employee Relations or HR Advisory role, ideally in a unionised or complex workplace
* Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and workplace compliance requirements
* Experience managing employee relations casework, investigations, disciplinaries, and conflict resolution
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building trusted relationships with employees and leadership
* Ability to provide strategic advice and practical solutions to complex ER matters
* A proactive, fair, and professional approach to resolving workplace issues
