Materials Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Materials Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of materials strategies across various product development groups globally.
The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills, with experience in materials characterization, identification, and selection. They will also have expertise in root cause and failure analysis, as well as knowledge of regulatory substances compliance.
This role is ideal for someone who comes up to speed quickly and thrives in working at pace to solve real-time problems.
Key Responsibilities:
* Materials Characterization: Use instrumentation such as FTIR, DSC, TGA, SEM/EDS, XRD, XRF, HPLC, Mass Spectrometry (LC/GC/ICP) to gather data for informed decisions.
* Regulatory Substances Compliance: Monitor applicable standards and regulations, including REACH, ROHS, California Proposition 65, EU-MDR, and coordinate proper testing when needed.
* Root Cause Analysis: Participate in Kepner Tregoe-based root cause and failure analysis activities, bringing rigorous critical thought and wide insightful materials knowledge to the table.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in applied Materials Science or Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Honours degree in applied Materials Science or Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Hands-on experience using various chemical, mechanical, rheological, and physical tools to characterize materials.
* Expertise in effective root cause and failure analysis activities.
* Extensive knowledge and experience of materials, ideally those used in sleep apnoea masks and devices; plastics, rubbers, composites, and steel.
* Knowledge and experience of high-volume manufacturing processes, particularly injection moulding.
* Proven project management experience.
