About VSOS
Veterinary Specialists of Sydney (VSOS) is a privately owned, specialist-led hospital and 24/7 emergency centre in Sydney's Sutherland Shire. We are recognised for advanced procedures including open-heart mitral valve repair, interventional radiology, complex orthopaedics and neurology.
Our Advanced Treatment Centre in Miranda supports our mobile surgical network, delivering gold standard specialist care both within our hospital and across referring veterinary clinics throughout Sydney.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Mobile Surgery Nurse to join our specialist surgical team.
This position combines:
* Mobile surgical support across our network of referring clinics throughout Sydney
* In-hospital surgical support at our Advanced Treatment Centre in Miranda
You will work closely with specialist surgeons both on the road and in hospital, ensuring advanced surgical procedures are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest clinical standards.
What you'll be responsible for
Mobile Surgical Support
Surgical Assistance: Scrub in and assist specialist surgeons during mobile surgical procedures across Sydney.
Theatre Preparation: Prepare operating spaces within referring clinics and maintain strict sterile technique.
Logistics & Coordination: Manage instruments, equipment, consumables and vehicle readiness to ensure smooth daily operations.
Professional Liaison: Communicate clearly with referring clinics regarding scheduling, arrival times and procedural requirements.
In-Hospital Surgical Support (Miranda)
Advanced Theatre Nursing: Assist specialist surgeons within our Advanced Treatment Centre.
Patient Preparation: Prepare, position and monitor patients for surgical procedures.
Sterile Technique: Maintain sterile fields and anticipate surgeon requirements.
Equipment Management: Support surgical equipment auditing, maintenance and collaboration with the instrumentation department.
Operational Excellence
Vehicle Responsibility: Drive and maintain VSOS surgical vehicles (full NSW driver's licence required).
Inventory Control: Prepare, restock and audit surgical instruments and equipment.
Quality & Safety: Identify and report damaged instruments or vehicle issues promptly.
Operational Readiness: Monitor inventory and ensure all mobile and hospital surgical sessions are fully prepared.

What we're looking for
* Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (minimum)
* Minimum 3 years' experience as a veterinary nurse
* Strong surgical nursing skills with meticulous attention to sterility and patient safety
* Full NSW driver's licence with a satisfactory driving record
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Calm, adaptable and resourceful under pressure
* Ability to work independently in mobile settings and collaboratively in hospital
* Flexibility to accommodate scheduling requirements
* Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 10kg
Working Arrangement
* Permanent part-time or full-time position
* Mobile service operates Monday to Friday across Sydney clinics
* Hospital shifts based at the Advanced Treatment Centre in Miranda
* Participation in a shared on-call and occasional Saturday roster may apply
* Additional hours may occasionally be required to meet operational needs
