This is a 6 month fixed term, full-time position commencing in Term 3, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency.
Port Hedland School of the Air (SOTA) is one of five West Australian SOTA schools. We pride ourselves on our family and community connections, which are made strong through home visits, camps, seminars and individual consultation.
Port Hedland SOTA enables distance education students in the Pilbara to have peer and teacher contact on a regular basis. Catering for the needs of students in distance education can be challenging, however we work hard to tailor our programs to your individual child. Most students work on modified or specifically designed programs, which cater for their individual developmental needs.
The Role
Port Hedland SOTA is focused on embedding evidence-based practices for teaching and learning across the curriculum. A strong knowledge of explicit instruction and a willingness to apply it appropriately in a remote learning environment is highly desirable.
Applicants should reference their high-quality instructional skills, use of student engagement strategies and evidence of how these have impacted student achievement. A current driver's license is required, with overnight trips to remote cattle stations in the Pilbara a core component of the role. Strong Information and Technology skills and an aptitude for delivering high quality lessons using online delivery modes such as Zoom and Seesaw are highly desirable.
The successful applicant will ideally exhibit effective time management and organisational skills and an ability to work in a multi aged class setting. They will ideally possess excellent interpersonal skills and build strong professional relationships which will support the strong collaborative culture of the school. We value applicants who are highly reflective, motivated, and driven to make a positive difference.
