We're embarking on an engineering transformation with the key focus on quality engineering and automation. You have knowledge that spans both development and operations, including coding, infrastructure management, system admin/engineering and DevOps Toolchains. Together we will build tomorrow’s bank today, using world-leading engineering, technology, and innovation. Do work that matters : We're building tomorrow’s bank today, which means we need creative and diverse engineers to help us redefine what customers expect from a bank. Envisioning new technologies that are still waiting to be invented and reimagining products that support our customers and help build Australia’s future economy. As a Principal Software Engineer in the Speciality Products Platforms Crew within the Digital & Technology Home Buying Division, you shape the technical direction behind products that support millions of customers through their home-buying journey. Reporting to the Crew Tech Lead, you’re the technical expert driving architectural strategy and delivering full-stack, end-to-end solutions across .NET/.NET Core, C#, AWS, and modern front-end frameworks like Next.js, TypeScript, and React. With full-cycle ownership, influence, design, build, test, deploy, and run, you ensure our platforms are scalable, intuitive, and world-class. You’ll lead major engineering initiatives, from modernising backend services to building new customer-facing experiences. As the Crew’s technical SME, you uplift a 250-person engineering organisation through design leadership, mentoring, coaching, and technical excellence. Even without direct reports, you set the bar, guiding engineers, shaping delivery approaches, and inspiring teams to innovate boldly. This is a role where your expertise drives outcomes, your leadership energises the Crew, and your work helps create exciting, high-impact Home Buying products people love to use, and love to build. See yourself in our team: CBA Technology powers the bank’s digital experiences and provides the platforms, data, cyber security, and infrastructure that support every CBA division. The team also delivers modern workplace technology for more than 53,000 employees, ensuring they have the tools and resources to work smarter, collaborate effectively, and deliver exceptional outcomes for customers. The Speciality Products Platforms Crew is a key part of the Group’s Digital & Technology Home Buying function, powering the specialised platforms that make home ownership easier and smarter for millions of Australians. This team builds the engines behind complex home-buying journeys, valuation services, property data platforms, lending decision tools, calculators, and high-scale APIs that support every step of the customer experience. It’s innovation with real impact, delivered through modern cloud-native architecture, event-driven systems, and scalable engineering. Joining this Crew means working with a high-energy team of engineers, designers, and product leaders who solve tough technical problems and deliver platforms used across the organisation. The team owns everything end to end designing, building, deploying, and running mission-critical services, while constantly pushing for better performance, reliability, and customer outcomes.
