Duties
* Develop and progress new instrument design projects that involve materials handling and sample preparation steps with user experience as a key consideration.
* Take a proactive role inall aspects of product design, from customer requirements tohandover to our ProductionEngineeringteam.
* Createand develop designs from specifications, fromconcept, tocompletedprototypes.
* Perform imagerendersand animations for concept review and liaison with Sales and Marketing for product promotionsand technical documentation.
* Develop andmaintainknowledge ofrelevant laboratoryapplication areasand understand key criteria for successful productimplementations and features.
Skills, Experience and Background
The position requiresminimumqualifications inMechanical Engineeringwithseveral years of experiencein machine design, with prior experienceindevelopmentand market release of benchtop automation products that use stepper motor driven axes for precise positioning and control.
Requisites also include strong experience in 3DCADmodelling and 2D part drawings, sound knowledge ofmaterials and expert knowledge in 3D printing with the ability to select, install, configureand manage a new 3D printing facility within the organization.
Preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
* Five or more years of experience in end-to-end product design (specifications to validation)
* Demonstrated prior work experience in a small engineering team or within a small company dynamic with ability to direct oneself and independentlymanage project work
* Demonstrated experience in developing working prototypes at part and assembly levels
* Demonstrated development and release of similar technologies
* Core skills in design of machined CNC, sheetmetaland plastic parts
* Significant experience in working with manufacturers and manufacturing processes
* Experience in understanding and working with product portfolio management
* Prior use of Solidworks
* Working knowledge of Australian safety standards for design.
* Experience in performing value engineering tooptimize cost/features.

* Full-time with salaryrange: 79,322–85,018+ super depending on skills and experience.
