Job Brief: Senior Piggery Stockperson
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the daily operations of the piggery, including feeding, breeding, and health monitoring of the pigs
* Manage a team of stockpersons and provide guidance and training to ensure the highest level of animal welfare and production standards are met
* Maintain accurate records of herd performance, production, and inventory levels
* Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and safety of the piggery facilities
* Work closely with the farm manager to develop and implement herd management plans and strategies
* Conduct routine health checks and administer medications as needed
* Identify and address any issues or concerns with pig health or production
* Ensure compliance with all industry regulations and biosecurity protocols
* Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure efficient and effective operations
* Monitor and manage inventory levels of feed, supplies, and equipment
* Assist with the planning and execution of herd movements and transportation
* Keep up-to-date with industry developments and implement best practices to improve herd performance and efficiency
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Certificate in Pork Production, Agriculture, Animal Science, Animal Husbandry and/or higher relevant qualification
* At least 3 years of recent and relevant experience in a medium-to-large commercial pig farm
Other Skills
* Ability to work with a team and/or independently with less supervision
* With a good English test score is an advantage (minimum PTE score 36 or IELTS 5.0)
* Experience in Canada, Japan, Denmark, USA and New Zealand is an advantage
* Must have a valid Driver's license
* Strong understanding of pig behavior, health, and nutrition
* Knowledge of industry regulations and biosecurity protocols
* Strong organizational and time-management skills
* Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends as needed
