Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Advisor
Location: Broadwater, NSW (with travel between Broadwater and Condong sites)
Reports to: Broadwater Operations Manager

Cape Byron Management Pty Ltd is one of Australia's largest privately owned renewable energy companies, operating two biomass-fired boiler and steam turbine generator power plants — Broadwater (38 MW) and Condong (30 MW) — near Byron Bay on the north coast of NSW.
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join our team.
In this role, you will provide administrative support, guidance, and leadership to ensure compliance with HSE requirements across all operations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, review, and continuously improve all HSE policies, procedures, and management systems to align with current legislation, standards, and best practice.
Ensure HSE procedures are effectively communicated, implemented, and maintained across both operational sites.
Promote awareness and understanding of legislative and company HSE compliance requirements.
Support Operations Managers in identifying, assessing, and managing risk across all business areas.
Prepare and assist with monthly WHS reports, including statistical analysis and interpretation.
Review and audit subcontractor WHS documentation.
Assist site personnel with inductions, training, and ongoing HSE education.
Conduct site inspections, observations, and audits to ensure safe work practices.
Participate in incident investigations and reporting, ensuring corrective actions are developed and tracked.
Attend WHS meetings and provide informed input on safety initiatives and procedural updates.
Respond to staff queries regarding WHS Acts, Regulations, and company policies.
Support the management of workplace injuries and Return-to-Work programmes.
Compile documentation to provide evidence for audits and compliance activities.
Maintain data entry and records within Cape Byron Management's safety software.
Assist the Operations Manager with managing site-based conflicts and performance processes.
Skills and Experience
Minimum 3 years' experience in a Health, Safety, and Environmental Advisor role.
Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (essential).
Qualifications in Injury Management / Return to Work (highly regarded).
Strong computer literacy (intermediate to advanced).
Demonstrated experience in HSE reporting and documentation management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong administrative and record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
Australian work authorisation is required for this position.
