Are you passionate about making a difference in the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities? James Cook University (JCU) is seeking a dedicated Indigenous Allied Health Officer to join our Murtupuni Centre for Rural and Remote Health.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Indigenous Allied Health Officer at James Cook University (JCU) plays a crucial role in supporting the clinical, administrative, and research activities of the Community Rehab Alliance at the Murtupuni Centre for Rural and Remote Health. This position involves providing cultural brokerage, enhancing cultural awareness, and mentoring staff and students to improve access to high-quality rehabilitation services for First Nations participants. The role also includes assisting participants in navigating health and disability services, maintaining clinical areas, and supporting research initiatives involving First Nations Peoples. This position is essential in fostering community trust and delivering culturally safe and effective health services.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, cultural brokerage, and mentorship.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Relevant qualifications (health or community-related degree, Aboriginal Health Worker, or Allied Health Assistant Cert IV) are desirable.
Current Queensland C class driver’s license is desirable.

The Murtupuni Centre for Rural and Remote Health (MCRRH) is a federally funded nationally networked University Department of Rural Health with additional funded vertical programs and key performance indicators set by the Department of Health specifically focused on health workforce. Located in Mount Isa with nodes in Cloncurry and Longreach, MCRRH serves the large geographic region of outback northern Queensland. As a small academic department with a broad range of responsibilities within the rural and remote health and education sector, our mission is to lead excellence in remote, rural and Indigenous health in outback Queensland.
