Job Title: Grader Operator
Role Overview
This is a critical role within the council's road construction and maintenance team. As a Grader Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery to construct and maintain roads, drainage assets, and other civil infrastructure in the Singleton Local Government Area.
Our ideal candidate will have solid working knowledge of civil road construction and maintenance techniques, including experience operating various types of plant and vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate a grader and other heavy machinery to perform earthworks, concrete, pipe laying, bitumen, vegetation work, and laboring tasks.
* Interpret engineering design plans and provide set out and level control of works on allocated projects.
* Select, modify, and regularly inspect traffic control plans to ensure safe management of traffic through and past the worksite.
* Set up works to meet expectations, including work health and safety, quality, environment, and project objectives.
* Provide direction and support to team members when the supervisor is absent.
Requirements
* Certificate III Civil Construction (Road Construction & Maintenance) or willingness to complete within first 12 months of employment.
* Accreditation in traffic control or willingness to obtain.
* Minimum of a current HR licence, with a willingness to obtain a HC licence as supported under Council's Learning and Development Protocol.
* Competency operating a Grader as well as plant and vehicles used in the civil road construction and maintenance industry.
Desirable Criteria
* Working knowledge of local government civil works operations.
* Previous experience working as a Grader Operator or an experienced Plant Operator looking to take a step up into a grader role.

This position is offered on a permanent full-time basis, working 76 hours per fortnight on a team-based 9-day fortnight.
