Our warm and welcoming long day care centre is looking for a childcare centre food Cook/coordinator to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 1:00pm for immediate start.
Formal qualifications not essential but highly regarded, such as Cert in Commercial Cookery.
Work experience in food preparation and or cooking roles highly regarded
Required Skills:
* Knowledge of preparing and cooking healthy and nutritious home-style meals from scratch according to provided Menu plan and recipes
* Understanding of allergens and allergen management in cooking
* Understanding of kitchen hygiene management in accordance with Food Safe Plan (provided) and associated checklists.
* Understanding of preparing appropriate foods for very young children 6-12 months
* Passion and enthusiasm along with efficiency and time management
Training and support is offered including Food Safe Handling course including allergen management. Any experience in cafe's kitchens or food preparation, or certificate in Commercial Cookery is highly regarded.
Childcare allowance package can be negotiated with suitable applicants should you have a young child requiring care at our service.

Working in a kitchen with full facilities, you will be cooking for children between ages of 4 months - 5 years old. We offer home-style cooked nutritious meals and snacks prepared from scratch each day for freshness and taste. We use a 4 week rotating menu (already in place) and offer Morning Tea, Lunch, and Afternoon Tea, using recipes for the dishes on the menu that are fresh, nutritious and appealing for the children.
You will need to prepare the meals in a way suitable for the ages to consume. Babies require purees made from vegetables and fruit (and meat if age appropriate).
You will be required to place a weekly order online through Woolworths based on the ingredients needed and within budget. Training and assistance with this task will be given.
You will be required to clean the kitchen, and maintain a cleaning checklist including the cleaning of cupboards and appliances on a weekly-monthly basis. You will maintain excellent hygiene, stock rotation, stock storage, calibration of thermometers, hand washing as necessary and stacking/unpacking the dishwasher. Our Food Safety plan contains process and procedures of everything regarding the operation of the kitchen.
An understanding of food allergens and how to ensure no cross contamination is very important.
The Food Coordinator reports directly to the Centre Director who will ensure that you are able to be guided where needed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
* A Food Safety Certificate or Food Handling Certificate (training can be done if not already held)
* A working with children check (this can be applied for through Service NSW Online if not already held)
