You're in the right place. Aurecon is a leading design, engineering and advisory consultancy shaping cities, infrastructure and communities across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Our success is underpinned by strong financial governance, technical excellence, and people who are confident to lead, challenge, and innovate.
We are now looking for a Group Finance Manager to play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our Group financial reporting and supporting ongoing finance transformation initiatives.
How will your ideas contribute to shaping what's next?
As Group Finance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing core Group accounting processes, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and supporting compliance with accounting standards, statutory reporting requirements, and internal governance frameworks.
This role is ideal for a technically strong, confident finance professional who enjoys owning outcomes, partnering with senior stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement across financial processes. You will operate at a Group level, supporting consolidated reporting, audit delivery, compliance reporting, and finance transformation initiatives, while working closely with both onshore and offshore teams.
Here are the key things you will do to 'bring ideas to life':
* Own the preparation and review of Group consolidated financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with AASB / IFRS
* Oversee the Group consolidation process, including joint ventures and lease accounting
* Review and approve journals and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring strong technical accuracy and timely resolution of issues
* Provide technical accounting advice on complex or judgemental transactions
* Support Board and senior leadership reporting, including analysis of key movements and variances
* Lead and coordinate the external audit process, managing auditor queries and deliverables
* Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, including:
o Payment Times Reporting
o ABS surveys
o Payroll tax audits and related compliance obligations
* Drive strong financial governance and internal controls, ensuring alignment with Group policies and standards
* Identify and implement process improvements, automation and system efficiencies across Group finance
* Act as a key finance contact for system-related queries, including Workday Financials, and support ongoing system enhancements
What we're looking for:
* Strong experience in Group financial reporting, consolidation and technical accounting
* Proven experience preparing and reviewing consolidated financial statements
* Professional services experience (engineering, consulting, advisory or project‐based environments) is highly desirable
* Familiarity with Workday Financials or similar ERP systems is strongly preferred
* CA / CPA qualified, with a background in external audit or strong audit exposure highly regarded
* Confident managing external audits and dealing directly with auditors and regulators
* Commercially minded, with the confidence to exercise judgement and hold accounting positions
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to own outcomes independently
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
* Professional accounting qualification (CA / CPA or equivalent)
* Significant experience in financial reporting, group accounting and/or audit
How will your future be shaped by us?
At Aurecon, finance is a trusted business partner, not just a reporting function. As Group Finance Manager, you'll have real ownership, autonomy and influence, working in an environment that values confident technical judgement and practical decision making. You'll benefit from:
* Ownership of a critical Group finance function with strong visibility and impact
* The opportunity to lead change - driving automation, process improvement and smarter use of systems
* This role offers exposure beyond core reporting, with opportunities to contribute to broader finance initiatives and business wide projects as the Group continues to evolve.
* A collaborative, inclusive culture where your ideas are heard and acted on
* Flexible working arrangements that support balance and sustainability, 2-3 work from home days as a standard
* A long‐term career environment focused on growth, trust and technical excellence
