The Wangaratta RSL is looking for a passionate and reliableSous Chefto join our kitchen team.
This is a great opportunity to step into a busy, well-run kitchen and work alongside a supportive Head Chef and crew.
As our Sous Chef, you'll be thesecond-in-charge, and you'll take the lead whenever the Head Chef is away.
You'll help keep the kitchen running smoothly, make sure our food quality stays high, and support the team during busy services.
What the role involves
Helping run a fast-paced kitchen
Stepping into the Acting Head Chef role when needed
Preparing and cooking a wide range of menu items
Keeping on top of food safety, kitchen hygiene and general compliance
Following and maintaining recipes, presentation standards and storage procedures
Helping with menu ideas and cost control in a high-volume venue
What we're looking for
Strong communication skills (spoken and written)
Someone who can stay calm under pressure
Flexibility with hours — weekends and nights as needed
Great culinary skills and attention to detail
A solid understanding of food safety programs and commercial kitchen requirements
Knowledge of food preparation, receiving, storage and sanitation
Someone who genuinely cares about good food and good service
Relevant trade qualification
Excellent presentation and communication skills
A strong work ethic and enthusiasm
