About the role The Rehabilitation and Project Engagement Manager (Loy Yang) will support stakeholder engagement and social licence activities related to the planned closure of the Loy Yang A Power Station and Mine and the subsequent rehabilitation and future land use of the site. This position offers a flexible hybrid arrangement but requires frequent site attendance at Loy Yang to maintain close working relationships with rehabilitation teams and regular attendance at Gippsland events.

What you’ll be doing

Represent AGL Loy Yang as a community and stakeholder contact, creating awareness of rehabilitation strategies, plans and projects.

Design, manage and implement stakeholder engagement and communication strategies to support regulatory approval processes, including water licensing, environmental effects statements, declared mine rehabilitation planning and community engagement funding.

Build relationships with community and stakeholders to understand and monitor sentiments, views and opportunities regarding the energy transition in the Latrobe Valley.

Work closely with project managers and business leaders to develop and implement engagement strategies supporting transition, rehabilitation and energy hub projects at Loy Yang.

Deliver effective stakeholder engagement to support the Loy Yang leadership team, specifically the Engineering and Projects team on key projects.

Design and deliver activities that support timely and effective approvals from the Victorian Government.

Achieve stakeholder support for AGL’s preferred rehabilitation methods and minimise opposition and reputational risks.

Ensure local community, stakeholders and Traditional Owner groups are engaged in relation to investments committed to the Structured Transition Agreement.

What you’ll bring

Experience with regulatory frameworks, including Victorian Government assessment processes and community engagement.

Experience in stakeholder engagement, government or public affairs.

Experience developing and implementing communication and engagement strategies for diverse stakeholders.

Highly developed interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with regulatory bodies and community groups.

Experience creating and measuring social impact projects and partnerships.

Working knowledge of customer relationship management systems and the IAP2 Model of Public Participation.

Ability to work proactively and autonomously, manage time and prioritise workload.

Knowledge of the energy industry, power stations, mining and rehabilitation is advantageous.

Current Australian driver’s licence.
