Purpose of the Role
BGIS is looking for a Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and engineering operations at a major private hospital in Parkville.
You'll manage direct staff and specialist contractors, ensuring all systems — from HVAC to standby generators — are safe, compliant, and fully operational. The role combines hands-on technical work with team leadership and stakeholder collaboration.
The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and technically skilled, with a passion for delivering excellent service in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day operations and technical delivery for building systems and assets.
* Supervise specialist contractors and coordinate maintenance schedules.
* Ensure compliance with statutory and safety regulations, including permit-to-work processes.
* Maintain accurate asset records, energy usage logs, and system performance data.
* Conduct audits, inspections, and technical troubleshooting.
* Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the engineering team.
Education, Experience & Skills
* Certificate III in Air-conditioning & Refrigeration, Electrotechnology Electrician, or Mechanical Trade.
* 10+ years post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years in a senior technical or supervisory role.
* Experience with complex Building Management Systems, UPS, standby generators, and hospital infrastructure.
* Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, chilled/condenser water, electrical distribution, and energy management systems.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
* Previous experience in healthcare or critical infrastructure environments.
* Knowledge of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability practices.
* Familiarity with e-permit and safety management systems.
