About The Role
The Compliance Officer - Parking maintains the amenity of the municipality for residents, traders, and visitors to Central Goldfields Shire Council. The Officer enforces parking restrictions through promoting, educating, and advising the community on matters relating to Parking Compliance and Local Laws matters. The role undertakes regular patrols, issues infringement notices, and provides information to the public about parking rules. The position supports community compliance with the Central Goldfields Shire Council General Local Law in a team environment. The position is a core member of the Compliance team, which delivers integrated compliance services throughout the municipality
Compliance Officer Duties Include
Monitor and participate in reactive and planned parking and issue infringement notices.Provide monitoring and processing of parking infringements and related procedures.Prepare and maintain concise and appropriate records of compliance activities.Conduct preliminary investigations and liaise with the community on all matters relating to local laws.Undertake documentation and prepare briefs for the Coordinator Compliance.Administer databases and maintain evidentiary records in compliance with data collection and privacy laws.Performing other compliance duties as required
About You
Ability to investigate matters, within the requirements of the role including the collection of evidence, such as conducting interviews, photography and samples for analysis where required.Ability to interpret and apply the relevant Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Technology, procedures and practices used within the Compliance Unit.Demonstrated experience in the investigation of complaints and breaches of legislation, regulations or Local Laws. Knowledge of the rules of evidence, techniques and information for legal proceedings.Communication skills to enable presentations to be made on behalf of the Compliance Unit.Ability to provide constructive advice and to consult with the public.Ability to operate in a broad organisational framework.Competence in the use of computer systems.Ability to draft correspondence and prepare reports with a high level of accuracy.Understands Council's values, aspirations and long-term objectives.
Qualifications/experience
Certificate IV in Local Government/Statutory Compliance or similar, or experience in local laws/regulatory functions.
Key Selection Criteria
Certificate IV in Local Government/Statutory Compliance or similar, or experience in local laws/regulatory functions. Demonstrated understanding of regulatory service provision within a local community context.Ability to interpret and apply the relevant Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Technology, procedures and practices used within the Local Laws Unit.Ability to effectively plan, organise and manage time, including the ability to work unsupervised.Ability to navigate conflict and deal with challenging situations using competent negotiation skills.Competence in the use of computer systems and the ability to draft correspondence and prepare reports with a high level of accuracy.Current Victorian Drivers Licence andWorking with Children CardWillingness to undertake a National Police Check.Note: Appointment is subject to the successful completion of this check.
