Overview

The Workflow Crew is responsible for driving the architecture, design, build and governance roadmap across the group for various workflow technologies. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for ongoing change and development for the workflow solutions and provide technology oversight to different business units. As a Principal Engineer, you will help to shape the future of our digital platform while focusing on designing, developing, and deploying innovative technology solutions that will enable us to build tomorrow\'s bank today. You'll lead engineers and implement complex workflow solutions in a cloud-based environment, with a strong risk mindset to ensure cyber security controls and a mentorship role for the team.

You will foster engineering excellence and a culture of ongoing improvement. You will support critical programs by designing and implementing solutions for business-driven initiatives and technology uplift as part of Workflow Crew. You will enjoy working in a hybrid agile development environment, running workshops and sprint ceremonies.

Responsibilities
* Drive architecture, design, build and governance of workflow technologies across the group.
* Lead the design, development and deployment of innovative technology solutions to support the organisation's digital platform.
* Provide technical oversight to different business units and mentor engineers within the team.
* Participate in or lead workshops and sprint ceremonies in a hybrid agile environment.
* Foster an environment of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications / Technical Skills
* Can design and deliver innovative technical solutions to strategic business problems.
* Can collaborate with a team of high performing engineers to build and deploy multiple technology solutions and define current/future states and roadmaps.
* Experience translating project vision into actionable plans and iterative delivery.
* Ability to constructively challenge the status quo and influence stakeholders at various levels.
* Influences the future direction of the Group\'s technology daily.
* Applies thought leadership in software and API architecture and sets direction for future software development and API strategies using AWS Gateways.
* Aware of emerging security threats and implements safeguards.
* Establishes new ways of working and promotes a DevOps culture of CI/CD pipelines and automation with world-class tools.
* Experience managing workflow-based technical environments (preferably Pega, Appian).
* Demonstrated experience with architecture and design of platforms – Infrastructure as Code.
* Strong development experience with programming languages such as C# or Java.
* Knowledge of microservices, cloud-native integration patterns, security zoning, and related concepts.
* Experience with hosting patterns (PaaS, SaaS, AWS, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
* Cloud domain knowledge in AWS.
* Proficient in data architecture and handling large data volumes (RDBMS, SQL, PostgreSQL).
* Understanding of AI model lifecycle and exposure to AI frameworks or cloud-based AI services (e.g., Azure AI, AWS SageMaker).
* Experience in telemetry, monitoring and alerting using industry-standard tools (Observe, Obstack, PagerDuty).
* Ability to build CI/CD pipelines using Git.
* Facilitates collaboration and efficiency across teams of engineers.
* Orchestrates complex workflows through automation scripts and manages deployment lifecycles of interconnected infrastructure components.
* Experience in designing, documenting and presenting formal solution designs. Agile & Scrum knowledge is preferred.
* Good understanding of a workflow stack (Pega/Appian is desirable).
