About the Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems Australia, based at SA-Osborne Naval Shipyard. As part of our Hunter Class line of business, you will report to the Lead Outfit Engineer and be responsible for supporting the design, modifications, and integration of mechanical equipment for the Hunter Class Frigate Program.
Key Responsibilities:
* Apply knowledge of company products, services, and mechanical engineering principles to resolve engineering problems while adhering to established processes and governance.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of mechanical solutions, including analyses and supporting manufacturing, integration, and validation activities.
* Assist in preparing and reviewing detailed designs for mechanical equipment to meet architectural requirements and project needs.
* Provide evidence for fitness for purpose, regulatory compliance, safety, and quality assurance, ensuring robust documentation supports the design's adequacy.
* Identify and resolve technical issues throughout the product lifecycle and manage change activities.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure requirements are supported and incorporated appropriately.
* Provide realistic program status updates, identify issues, and implement recovery plans to meet project objectives.
* Liaise with suppliers worldwide on the technical aspects of procurement packages.
* Conduct mechanical system design and integration, translating customer requirements into compliant designs.
About You
We are looking for a talented individual who possesses the following qualifications and skills:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Aeronautical Engineering.
* Eligible for membership with the Institute of Engineers Australia (IEAust).
* Proven experience as a professional engineer.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective technical conveyance.
* Ability to work confidently and collaboratively within a team.
* Self-motivated with a proactive approach to tasks.
* Effective collaboration with designers, draftspersons, production teams, suppliers, and engineers.
