Culinary Professional
We are seeking an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Preparing and producing high-quality food in a fast-paced kitchen environment;
2. Taking direction from the Head Chef to ensure smooth operation of all kitchen duties;
3. Maintaining consistency of all menu items regardless of time of day or period of service;
4. Liaising with chefs and kitchen team to ensure smooth delivery of food to guests;
5. Operating kitchen equipment to achieve required results for à la carte and function service;
6. Working with the Head Chef to advance and improve current food operations;
7. Understanding stock control and working with kitchen team to minimise wastage;
8. Maintaining venue security and compliance – understanding venue access and security of food stock, maintaining alarm codes, venue keys and other access requests;
9. Complying with food safety policy and procedures (HACCP) and conducting regular safety meetings with heads of departments;
10. Enforcing kitchen service standards, following kitchen systems, policies and procedures on shift, and presenting oneself in accordance with venue dress standards;
11. Responding to requests to perform other tasks from time to time which contribute to overall success of venue operations, maintaining service standards during peak periods;
12. Maintaining a “can-do” attitude in the face of adversity;
13. Participating in performance reviews, scheduled and unscheduled check-ins;
Requirements:
* At least 1 year of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen is essential.
* A positive, friendly, and enthusiastic attitude is required.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to excel under pressure in a high-volume environment.
* Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship skills.
* Attention to detail with a focus on consistency.
* Open and honest in all dealings to the advantage of both you and the business.
