ABOUT THE ROLE Reporting to the headspace Team Leader, the Diverse Youth Resilience Officer will lead the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of the Diverse Youth Resilience Program at Gateway Health.
In this role, you will champion the rights of young LGBTIQA+ people, ensuring their voices are amplified across the community through events, activities, and programs. You will foster resilience by strengthening social connections, developing leadership opportunities, and advocating for meaningful inclusion.
You thrive on creating a culture that celebrates and embraces LGBTIQA+ young people in Albury Wodonga and beyond. This role is instrumental in engaging local businesses, community organisations, and groups to develop safe and welcoming spaces for young LGBTIQA+ people and their families. You will provide guidance to internal teams and external service providers, equipping them with the tools to create inclusive, culturally responsive programs and services. Additionally, you will support young LGBTIQA+ people, their families, and carers by connecting them to resources, services, and networks that enhance their wellbeing.

ABOUT YOU If you are
passionate and experienced working within the unique world of young LGBTIQA+ people to create positive change, identify as belonging to LGBTIQA+ communities or are an exceptionally strong Ally who is passionate about supporting these communities, serious about making sustainable community change to celebrate and empower the LGBTIQA+ community, and, looking to work with a team of creative, passionate, community change practitioners with a strong equity and diversity lens, then, we are keen for you to join us. To be successful in the role we require:
A self-starter who can work both within a team environment and independently to meet targets, but also enjoys being part of a diverse team. Tertiary qualifications in social work, youth work, community development or relevant equivalent studies and at least 3 years of relevant sector experience. Someone experienced with diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts and best practices. Extensive experience working with communities, and a demonstrated commitment to social justice and equity. Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate and problem solve highly sensitive issues. Advanced skills and experience in facilitating groups of young people with complex needs through a trauma informed lens, especially LGBTIQA+ young people. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively. Skills and experience in advocacy, establishing and managing effective partnerships and networks, and community engagement.
