Support the Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer, Chief Veterinary Officer and the General Manager, Biosecurity Tasmania, to provide strategic and scientific leadership in aquatic animal biosecurity and animal welfare.
About the role
As a key advisor to the Chief Veterinary Officer, Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer, and General Manager of Biosecurity Tasmania, you’ll provide scientific and strategic leadership in aquatic animal biosecurity and welfare. You’ll manage policy development, disease response, and epidemiological analysis—especially within the salmonid aquaculture industry.
- Lead aquatic animal health and welfare policy at state and national levels.
- Manage resources and staff performance within the Section.
- Conduct epidemiological analysis and provide expert advice on disease management.
- Liaise with industry, veterinarians, government branches, and community groups.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to strategic planning and program delivery.

Requirements
A degree in science relevant to the professional duties to be undertaken, as provided by a university. Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Conviction check in the following conviction areas: Crimes of violence, Sex related offences, Serious drug offences, Crimes involving dishonesty, Serious traffic offences, Any other offences under the Biosecurity Act 2019, or related legislation
