Wheatbelt Steel builds sheds of the highest quality, including machinery sheds, fertiliser sheds, grain sheds, hay sheds, shearing sheds and poultry sheds for farms across Western Australia, with further growth taking sheds to the rest of Australia.
**About the Role**
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Draftsperson to join our Wheat Belt Steel team on a permanent full-time basis.
This role leads, coordinates, and provides drafting service in support of the fabrication and erecting of large-scale rural structural steel buildings.
The role services the Perth based marketing and project management teams as well as providing support to our fabrication facility in Northam.
**Location**
The office location for this role could be based in support offices in Perth (Bellevue) or Northam, dependant on the successful applicant's preference.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Receive, coordinate, and track drawing requests through to remote drafting centres or self-perform.
- Ensure quality (peer review check) and on time delivery of drawings.
- Provide early design layouts to assist clients with location and configuration.
- Provide structural detail drawings and documentation for certification by relevant structural engineers.
- Issue workshop detail, structural drawings, and material lists to fabrication workshop, and project managers.
- Update drawing packages through version control based on project progression feedback, and re-issue.
- Maintain and update a data base of standards of drawings, configurations, and specifications.
- Retain improvement lessons learnt and incorporate into new designs.
- Ensure all drawings are compliant to required Australian local and national standards and regulatory requirements.
**Skills and Experience **Required**
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Tekla computer design packages
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Mail, Word, Excel)
- Proficiency in administration and tracking of drafting office workflow.
- Strong knowledge of Australian structural building standards and industry nomenclature
**Beneficial**
- Previous experience in leadership role, managing a team of draftspersons or remote design centres.
- Working knowledge of Australian structural requirements to ensure ease of certification by structural engineers.
- Experience in the commercial, agricultural, or mining sector structural design industry.
