About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Principal Contracts and Procurement Officer to lead complex procurement activities and drive high‐quality contract management outcomes across a diverse portfolio. In this senior role, you will work closely with executives and business leaders to understand strategic needs, provide specialist advice, and deliver procurement solutions that support organisational priorities.
You will manage a range of high‐value and high‐risk procurements, develop robust procurement documentation, and negotiate effective contracts using QITC and Queensland Government Comprehensive Contract Conditions. A key part of the role is overseeing contract performance, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring strong governance, risk management and record keeping.
Key Responsibilities
* Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to understand business needs and service requirements.
* Lead complex and strategic end‐to‐end procurements and provide expert advice to executives.
* Prepare high‐quality procurement and executive documentation, including Significant Procurement Plans, Evaluation Plans and Reports.
* Develop, negotiate and manage contracts, incorporating legal advice and collaborating with internal stakeholders.
* Oversee a portfolio of contracts, including drafting variations, managing financial performance, and maintaining contract plans.
* Monitor and report on vendor KPIs and SLAs, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
* Facilitate regular vendor performance meetings, ensuring documentation and follow‐up actions are completed.
* Maintain risk, issue and decision registers, ensuring timely escalation and proactive management.
* Ensure diligent and compliant record keeping for all procurement and contract activities.
About You — Skills and Experience
* Demonstrated experience delivering end‐to‐end procurement and contract management within a structured governance framework.
* Strong capability across multiple sourcing approaches including open market, limited RFQ and sole supplier.
* Proven experience drafting contracts and contract variations.
* Ability to work across multiple service categories and manage competing priorities effectively.
* Confidence working with stakeholders to clarify scope, challenge assumptions and influence outcomes.
* Strong judgement and the ability to work autonomously while escalating issues appropriately.
* Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain procurement concepts in clear, plain language.

Casual Loading
Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
