About the role
Join the City of Gold Coast’s Cloud Team as a Cloud Security Engineer and play a crucial role in shaping the city’s digital future. In this hands‑on engineering position, you’ll implement, maintain, and optimise secure configurations, policies, and services across our Azure environments. You’ll work closely with cloud engineers, architects, Cyber Security, and IT operations to deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions that make a real impact for our community.
Responsibilities
* Design secure Azure landing zones, subscriptions and management groups.
* Governance expertise using Azure Policy and security services to enforce standards at scale.
* Strong identity skills across RBAC, Privileged Identity Management, and Conditional Access.
* Automation with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform and Bicep, and integrating controls into Azure DevOps or GitLab CI/CD.
* Integrate monitoring and governance dashboards using native Azure tooling.
* Collaborate with developers, architects and operations to embed secure engineering practices; maintain crisp documentation.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent.
* 4+ years’ hands‑on Azure cloud engineering and security tool implementation.
* Proficiency with IaC tools such as Bicep and Terraform; scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
* Experience integrating security controls into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitLab).
* Familiarity with containers and cloud‑native tech (Docker, Kubernetes).
* Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate preferred.
