The Department of Psychiatry, Island Health, South Island, is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide locum services at the Psychiatry Intensive Care Unit at Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) in Victoria from July 28, 2025, to September 5, 2025.
Psychiatric Intensive Care at RJH is a 10-bed locked unit accepting certified patients from the emergency department, psychiatry and medical inpatient units, and outside facilities. Rounds with staff typically occur at 8 am daily, where each patient is discussed. Patients are then assessed, generally starting with the most acute, and treatment decisions are made. The MRP (Psychiatrist) is responsible for the unit from 8 am to 5 pm daily to address patient issues, coordinate care with outpatient services, inpatient hospitalists, and specialists if necessary. Preparing and attending review panels as requested by patients is also a possibility.
