The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) is a cornerstone member of the Melbourne Children's Campus, partnering with the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, the University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, and the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation. Founded in 1870, RCH has cared for children and young people of Victoria for more than 150 years. It offers a full range of paediatric and adolescent health services, plus tertiary and quaternary care for the most critically ill and medically complex patients in Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and other parts of Australia and overseas. The Hospital has more than 6,000 staff, a budget of $850 M, 12 wards and 350 beds, and annually sees 300,000+ Specialist Clinic appointments, 90,000+ Emergency Department presentations and 20,000 elective surgeries.

About the Role

This is a part‐time, ongoing position (16 hours per fortnight) within the Victorian Infant Hearing Screening Program (VIHSP). You will conduct hearing screens on newborns in accordance with VIHSP protocols and procedures, communicate with parents sensitively and accurately, and maintain thorough and timely documentation across multiple IT systems. The position ranges from AO21 to AO25 (FTE base salary $66,768 – $73,811.92 per annum, plus superannuation).

What You'll Achieve

* Contribute to the early detection of newborn hearing loss, ensuring infants receive timely diagnosis and intervention.
* Provide family‐centred, compassionate, and clear communication with parents about the screening process.
* Assist in the smooth operation of administrative duties, supporting efficient service delivery.
* Uphold the high standards of VIHSP, maintaining accurate records and assisting in quality assurance activities.
* Work effectively with the VIHSP team and hospital staff to support newborn hearing care.

Your Skills And Experience

* Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with families, stakeholders and team members.
* Proficiency in data entry and general administrative tasks.
* Experience or comfort working in a hospital environment and with newborns.
* Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast‐paced environment.
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.

Other Requirements

* Flexibility to work at multiple hospital sites in a region as needed.
* Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
* Commitment to adhering to the program's procedures and ensuring safety and accuracy in hearing screening.
* Current National Criminal Record Check, or willingness to obtain.
* Valid Working with Children Check.
* Current Victorian Driver's Licence, as travel between maternity hospitals is essential.
* Compliance with RCH's "Staff Immunisation – Prevention of Vaccine‐Preventable Diseases" procedure.
