* Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 to $138,494 + super
Our Water for the Environment team is currently seeking to appoint a Conservation Officer- Wetlands and Rivers to support with the Implementation of environmental water programs, plans and projects, and monitor and report on environmental outcomes. The role develops and coordinates water delivery partnerships and stakeholder management including the Commonwealth and assists in the delivery of cross regional activities and responsibilities associated with water use decisions, monitoring and evaluation of water use, reporting on environmental outcomes against ecological objectives, and adaptive management of water.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have experience in, but not limited to, the following:
* Develop and deliver environmental programs, plans and projects, including monitoring, analysis and reporting on environmental outcomes aligned with relevant frameworks and plans.
* Contribute to the development and coordination of partnerships and advisory processes, and build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, including government agencies, to promote environmental outcomes for local and regional communities.
* Provide technical expertise and advice to support decision‑making, adaptive management, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting against ecological objectives, while supporting clear and effective stakeholder engagement and communication.
* Work in partnership with landholders and natural resource managers to undertake conservation assessments and planning to establish, prioritise and implement environmental programs.
* Identify and promote opportunities to communicate the objectives, outcomes and participation pathways of environmental projects to internal and external stakeholders through effective communication networks and products.
* Prepare briefings, reports and submissions for senior leaders to ensure awareness of key issues and outcomes.
Key knowledge and experience
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in river and wetland planning and management, including the hydrology and ecology of rivers, floodplains and wetlands.
* Demonstrated ability to present and explain complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
* Demonstrated knowledge of water, threatened species and biodiversity conservation legislation and policies, including the requirements of the Murray Darling Basin Plan.
Essential requirements
* Tertiary qualifications and/or experience with a similar role
* A drivers' licence, capability to work in the field, including use of All-terrain vehicles (training provided).
