The Role
Are you a building codes and regulations expert? Do want to you use your knowledge of building regulations and the National Construction Code to help support the industry?
We are seeking an Assistant Director – Building NSW to provide comprehensive technical advice and support to HIA members on building regulations, codes and standards.
Key duties of this role are:
* Providing technical advice to HIA members on issues related primarily to residential building and development, building codes and standards, construction practices and compliance
* Providing technical support to the Executive Director and national Building, Planning and Environment team and Contracts and Compliance team
* Assist in the preparation and delivery of education and training content relevant to building codes and regulations
* Provide administrative support and coordinate the NSW Regional Technical Committee and other HIA committees as required.
* Research and develop written submissions in response to NSW and ACT government policy or regulatory proposals
* Represent HIA on government and external industry forums including ABCB committees and Australian Standards committees
* Liaise with agencies on the behalf of HIA members regarding building regulations.
About you
The successful candidate will have
* A relevant building related qualification or trade and/or experience
* Sound knowledge of the National Construction Code and associated standards
* Experience with the building/planning approval arrangements in NSW.
* Training qualifications or experience will be seen as an added benefit
* The ability to communicate effectively with industry practitioners at all levels both verbally and in writing
* Computer literate in standard office software
* Current driving license.
