SAR Construction is an established Adelaide-based carpentry and construction business specializing in residential and light commercial projects. Our work includes structural carpentry, renovations, extensions, interior fit-outs, and installation of timber and related building components.
We undertake a broad range of carpentry activities including constructing, installing, maintaining, and repairing structures and fixtures made from timber and other materials, ensuring compliance with Australian building standards and the National Construction Code (NCC).
Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified and reliable full-time Carpenter to perform a wide range of carpentry tasks across residential and renovation projects. This role requires competency in both structural and finishing carpentry, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Duties
* Studying and interpreting drawings, plans, and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and installation methods
* Selecting, preparing, and cutting timber and other materials for construction and installation
* Measuring, marking, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, and composite materials with precision
* Constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures such as wall frames, partitions, floors, roofs, and staircases
* Performing demolition, modification, and reconstruction work as part of renovation and extension projects
* Installing doors, windows, cabinetry, cladding, and internal/external fixtures
* Assembling and fitting prepared structures and components on-site and in workshop settings
* Ensuring all installations are level, plumb, and aligned using appropriate tools and techniques
* Installing and dismantling formwork and temporary frameworks where required
* Carrying out finishing work including trimming, moulding, skirting, architraves, and detailing
* Maintaining, repairing, and replacing existing timber structures and fixtures
* Operating and maintaining hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery safely and efficiently
* Inspecting completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with project specifications
* Following Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and maintaining a safe work environment
Skills & Requirements
* Certificate III in Carpentry (AQF Level 3) or equivalent
* At least 1 year of relevant full-time work experience
* Demonstrated experience in structural, finishing, and renovating
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
* Sound knowledge of Australian building standards and WHS regulations
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Own tools and reliable transport preferred
