The Role
We are looking for a Trade Assistant/Labourer to join our team in Cairns – Queensland. This role involves performing manual tasks and operating machinery while ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
* General cleaning and laboring support across the workshop and yard
* Organising, cleaning and maintaining a safe and tidy workspace
* Pick‐up and delivery of workshop equipment
* Safely operating a forklift to move and store materials and equipment
* Supporting the workshop operations to ensure efficiency and workflow
* Picking and packing of mechanical equipment (inward and outward goods)
* Assisting trades such as Hydraulic Technicians and Hose Technicians when required
* Assist with tool store and hire fleet management
* Assist with calibration system for workshop equipment
* Assist with general duties such as procurement, store liaison, job identification, workshop maintenance and clean up
* Assist with routine maintenance and repairs of workshop equipment
* Identify and report problems in processes, systems, or procedures
* Initiate or recommend solutions to problems identified
* Ensure prompt reporting of all incidents
* And any other duties as reasonably required from time to time
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role (Essential)
* Valid Australian driver's license or equivalent (Essential)
* Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures in the workplace
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various environmental conditions
* Availability to travel to job sites as needed
