Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.**The Role**As a Cook at the Mount Isa Recovery Services Centre, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality, nutritious meals for participants. You will ensure all food is prepared and served safely, efficiently, and in accordance with The Salvation Army’s values, ethos, and food safety standards.**About the Service** The Salvation Army’s Mt Isa Recovery Service is a 25-bed facility that supports individuals experiencing problematic alcohol and other drug (AOD) use through comprehensive treatment and case management. Alongside partnerships with external organisations offering diverse programs and activities, the service delivers a core program called Foundations.**How You Will Make an Impact*** Prepare and serve meals for up to 25 residential participants in line with food handling requirements.* Prepare and cook nutritious, quality meals within required timeframes, adhering to approved menus and budget.* Develop menu plans for manager approval.* Maintain the cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation of the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring compliance with Australian Food Safety Standards, TSA policies and procedures, and government regulations.* Manage stock levels, receive deliveries, and store supplies in accordance with TSA procedures and budget guidelines.* Rotate and monitor food stock to maintain freshness and quality in line with HACCP standards.**What You Will Bring*** Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent trade qualification.* Demonstrated experience and competence in kitchen or catering operations.* Knowledge and practical understanding of safe food handling requirements.* Knowledge of HACCP standards (highly regarded).* Current First Aid Certificate.* Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).**What we offer**The Salvos offer eligible employee's a well-balanced package of meaningful benefits including:* Salary packaging up to $15,900 tax free + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.* Generous Paid Parental leave for primary (12 weeks) & secondary carers, Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks) and 5 days paid leave per year to experience working in other TSA programs or activities.* Access to EAP and health & wellness initiatives incl Fitness Passport* Ongoing training and development opportunities that enhance on the job skills and proficiency.* Rewarding and fulfilling purpose driven careers that have positive and sustainable / social impacts.The Salvation Army (Salvos) is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities.
