Roper Gulf Regional Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Resource Recovery Manager to lead and support waste management and recycling initiatives across our vibrant and diverse region.
As the Resource Recovery Manager, you will provide technical, operational, and administrative support for the delivery of resource recovery services and programs. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee site maintenance, staff training, compliance inspections, data management, and contract administration.
You will play a key role in ensuring Council's waste management operations meet EPA requirements and community expectations, while driving continuous improvement and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and support waste management and recycling operations across RGRC communities.
* Deliver training and technical support to Council staff on waste facility operations.
* Manage compliance inspections, safety programs, and data reporting.
* Oversee contracts, procurement, and grant applications for waste projects.
* Lead the implementation of the Waste Management and Recycling Strategy.
* Ensure adherence to EPA guidelines and relevant legislation.
* Foster community engagement and stakeholder collaboration
Essential Criteria:
* Tertiary qualification in sustainability, environmental science, waste management, or related field; or minimum 2 years' experience in municipal waste services.
* Experience supervising contractors and managing compliance.
* Strong knowledge of waste management legislation and best practices.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Willingness to work outdoors and travel to remote communities.
