Municipal Worker – Painter & General Maintenance

The Northern Midlands Council are seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced people to join the Works team as a Painter and General Maintenance worker. The position will be offered on a full-time basis at our Works Depot in Longford.

About The Role

Council is seeking a suitably qualified person to undertake Painting & related general maintenance tasks across a wide range of council facilities and projects, both indoors and outdoors. Working closely with the building and maintenance team, you will be responsible for:

Undertaking painting tasks for new projects, as well as ongoing maintenance for existing facilities and assets
All related preparation including minor plastering repairs and sanding, pressure washing, and other minor building repairs
Painting of exterior facilities and structures using a commercial spray applicator
Gutter cleaning and associated minor repairs including fences prior to painting
Delivering high quality results in a timely and cost-effective manner
Mentoring and supporting our apprentice painter

About You

You will be a self-motivated individual, who is passionate about their work and takes pride in delivering quality work. You will be comfortable working in a team or on your own, and have great time management skills to ensure that works are completed on time and on budget. You have great attention to detail and are proactive when it comes to identifying and rectifying problems.

As this role supervises an apprentice, you must hold the trade qualification of Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (CPC30620) or equivalent (ie. Must be trade qualified painter).

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will

have demonstrated experience as a painter, including experience with preparation
have experience in roles that require a variety of general maintenance duties
be physically fit and able to work safely in a range of environments, including the ability to pass a Working At Heights medical clearance
have previous experience managing apprentices or other team members
have proven ability to be organised and manage priorities
be able to demonstrate the ability to follow direction, both verbally or in the form of a written works plan
have a Working at Heights ticket, or be willing to undertake the training to acquire
hold a current driver's licence

Terms and conditions of employment, including salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant and in accordance with the Northern Midlands Council Enterprise Agreement.
