About The Opportunity
Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, part of the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD), is seeking a dedicated and experienced Visiting Medical Officer – Endocrinology to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centred care in a supportive and collaborative environment.
As a VMO, you will play a key role in delivering comprehensive, evidence-based medical services while contributing to the education and supervision of junior medical staff. You will be instrumental in shaping clinical practices, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and supporting the hospital’s commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.
About You
You are a passionate and skilled physician with:
- Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Physician in Endocrinology
- Recent clinical experience in Endocrinology, ideally within a comparable service setting.
- A strong commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary care and the ability to lead and inspire a clinical team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and proficiency in using clinical information systems.
- A dedication to teaching, research, and continuous improvement, with a focus on delivering secure, high-quality care.
- Availability to participate in the General Medicine on-call roster and respond on-site as required.
- Alignment with the NSW Health CORE values—Collaboration, Openness, Respect, and Empowerment—and a commitment to the goals and strategies of MLHD.

Selection Criteria
- Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Physician Endocrinologist or hold registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a General Physician with evidence of substantial experience and interest in endocrinology.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated significant experience in the relevant specialty.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
- Availability to participate in the General Medicine on-call roster at WWBH and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
- Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
