Advance STEM education for girls and young women in Victoria. Shape the future of a respected philanthropic organisation.

The Invergowrie Foundation is seeking up to four new Board Directors to join our mission-driven team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic leadership of a charitable trust dedicated to improving educational outcomes for girls and young women, with a particular focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

About The Invergowrie Foundation

Established in 1992, the Foundation has a proud legacy of supporting impactful programs through invitation-only, multi-year grants. Our partners include leading universities and educational organisations across Victoria. Since 2015, our strategic focus has been on STEM education, with initiatives such as:

* The Monash Virtual School
* STEMeez and the Virtual STEM Hub
* The GALS program (Deakin University)
* Girls in Physics Breakfasts (Vicphysics)
* A PhD scholarship (University of Melbourne)
* Professional learning for teachers (Swinburne University)
* Industry Day for maths educators (AMSI)

We work with ~35 member schools, including both independent and government girls' schools, and distribute $1.0–$1.4 million annually.

The Role

We are recruiting up to four Directors to:

* Support Board succession and renewal
* Broaden skills, perspectives, and lived experience
* Contribute to future leadership, including potential Chair succession

The Board meets quarterly and operates with a single Investment and Finance Committee. Directors are not involved in day-to-day operations but play a critical role in governance, strategy, and oversight.

Who We're Looking For

We welcome expressions of interest from individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:

* Investment and finance (especially with committee experience)
* Legal and governance
* Philanthropy, fundraising, stakeholder engagement and brand
* Education leadership, particularly beyond principal roles (e.g. system leaders, STEM experts)
* Government school sector representation (strongly preferred for at least one appointment)

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board. We encourage applications from candidates of all genders, backgrounds, and career stages.

Time Commitment

* Quarterly Board meetings
* Committee participation (as relevant)
* Occasional engagement with partners and stakeholders
* Induction before Christmas 2025; first Board meeting in February 2026

Why Join Us?

* Make a meaningful impact on girls' education in Victoria
* Collaborate with a collegial, values-aligned Board
* Help shape the future of a respected philanthropic organisation

Be part of a governance refresh that values diversity, challenge, and strategic thinking.
