About the role
As a senior leader within the IRONMAN Operations team, you will be responsible for creating and implementing the regional strategy to support growth and innovation for your portfolio of events, leading a high performing team to deliver world class events and operational excellence.
As Regional Director, youwill focus on the key elements of event delivery including budget planning and management, stakeholder communications, operational planning and execution, event innovation and athlete experience planning, and athlete/customer services.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead communication with Operations staff and event teams to ensure staff work together efficiently in a team environment. Lead the training of Operations Managers and other key staff.
* Provide operational oversight to Operations Managers throughout the event planning process and through race week.
* Ensure appropriate government agency/ Stakeholder approvals and permits are acquired and ensure requirements of local councils in relation to funding and deliverables are met.
* Ensure the Athlete Experience is in line with global and agreed regional standards and continuously work with the event delivery team to strive for excellence.
* Be prepared to work some weekends to deliver and support events across the Oceania region.
* Drive a culture of continuous innovation in existing event portfolio to achieve improved athlete experience and/or growth in athlete counts year on year.
* Develop event budgets in conjunction with the Operations Managers, Vice President of Operations, IRONMAN Oceania and finance team.
* Identify, drive and secure new business from both existing IRONMAN customers and new business opportunities.
Skills & Experience Required
* Tertiary qualifications in Event Management or a related degree, with a minimum of eight years' experience in the Event's industry.
* A deep passion for sports and creating life-changing experiences for athletes of all levels.
* Strong leadership skills and experience leading diverse high performing teams.
* Proven ability to multi-task, work under pressure and within required deadlines.
* A high level of computer skills in the Microsoft Office Suite.
* Excellent organizational skills, time management and attention to detail.
* Financial acumen to engage in budget planning and management.
* Energetic, personable and able to work co-operatively with other team members.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
* A valid driver's licence.
* Ability to obtain a Working with Children Check and First Aid/CPR certification.
* Right to work in Australia.
